BIOGRAPHY
Studies
I have practised as a professional artist since 1986. My studies included training at London University in England during the 1960's where I graduated with distinction. In Canada I continued my training with workshops at the Saskatchewan Summer School of the Arts in the 1970's, followed by a BFA with Great Distinction from the University of Regina in 1986 and numerous professional workshops. I graduated with an M. Ed. degree specializing in arts education in 1996, and pursued work opportunities in the field of education and a variety of arts related work projects. In 2001 I spent a semester in Italy and Greece working on painting techniques, drawing and studying art history at the Aegean Center for the Fine Arts.

Media and Content
As a painter, I generally paint with oils and occasionally egg tempera, mostly on canvas and board, although I have frequently used furniture or folding screens as painting surfaces. I work in drawing through a variety of media, including collage. The content of my work might be described loosely as autobiographical with the intent to explore ways to find a balance and connection between past and present.

Subject Matter
Subject matter includes landscape, figurative compositions inspired by family photographs and events, as well as the culture and mythology of gardens. However, the main body of my work consists of still life paintings combining personal domestic objects such as food, cooking and dining utensils. I am also currently engaged in creating an artist book of approximately sixty or more pen and ink drawings based on a family history.

Exhibitions and Galleries
I have exhibited primarily in Saskatchewan, in solo and group exhibitions both in public and commercial galleries. My work has also been shown elsewhere in Canada and the United States and is part of private collections in Canada and the UK. Work in public collections includes the Saskatchewan Arts Board, the Canada Council Art Bank and that of H.R.H. Prince Edward.

Related Arts Activities
In addition to my work as a painter I have been involved with teaching, mentoring young artists, collaboration with dancers and designing theatrical props for children’s theatre. Recently I produced a series of learning activities for ArtSask, an educational website. I have served as an advocate and supporter for various arts organizations and projects. I have taught and adjudicated in many capacities, including workshops and classes to adults and children. For several years, I worked as an artist in schools through the international programme Learning Through the Arts and as a sessional lecturer and practicum advisor for the Arts Education programme at the University of Regina.
