Art in the Frame started its 10th Birthday Year on a high with a very exciting Up and Comers exhibition, 3x3 View The New, on February 12th at The Harbour Gallery.
Our very sincere thanks go to Lloyds TSB who have sponsored this exhibition for the last 5 years, amongst other events that they have sponsored for Art in the Frame.
The evening was attended by over 200 guests, including our Patron Mrs. Valerie Ridgway and her husband Lt. Gen. Andrew Ridgway CB CBE the Lieutenant Governor of Jersey, who officially opened the exhibition.
The exhibitors were Anna Shipley mixed media , drawing and painting, Anna d' Oliveira textile art, Tricia Kennedy photography, Donna Atkinson ceramics, Nicholas Socrates painting, Alex Arnell painting, Oliver Doran photography and Mark Outhwaite furniture.
These 8 exhibitors produced a lively, innovative exhibition of high quality inspired work. It was disappointng that our 9th exhibitor Louise Le Luyer was unable to return from the USA but
we look forward to exhibiting her work in the future when she returns to Jersey .
A new event to the evening was the gift of £200 to 2 of the exhibitors to help them further their work by buying new equipment, creating a website etc.
The money for these awards was shared between Lloyds TSB and Art in the Frame Foundation. The 2 lucky winners, whose names were drawn by our Patron, were Anna Shipley and Mark Outhwaite.
Art in the Frame set up to promote and encourage new artists and craftworkers who seriously wish to work part or full time in the world of art and craft, each year we will be holding an Up and Comers exhibition, we look forward to hearing from and meeting you,
if you would like to be considered for our 2009 exhibition.
We were delighted that Nicolle Smith who exhibited in the 2007 Up and Comers exhibition went on to win the prestigious JJ Fox Painting Competition at the Jersey Arts Centre in the summer of 2007. Nicolle will be joining with Andrew Thompson in June 2008 to be part of a 2 "man" exhibition at The Harbour Gallery.
3X3 View the New , continues at The Harbour Gallery until March 8th. The gallery is open 7 days a week 10.30-5.30, we look forward to seeing you.
