The HSBC Project
The Harbour Gallery are delighted to have been working with HSBC staff and primary school students on a project, Reclaimed From The Sea.
Around 100 students combined their artistic talents with a beach cleaning exercise. Having spent time on the beach at the back of St. Aubin collecting driftwood, old pieces of rope, china, plastic bottles and bottle tops, etc. they returned to The Harbour Gallery to work on their projects.
Back at the Gallery they split into two groups and alternated between working on the 3D panels designed by Peter Knight , helped by Elizabeth Le Gal or observational drawing in the gallery with Pat Robson.
As well as sponsoring these workshops HSBC provided  15 members of HSBC staff to help on the beach and with the  the workshops. We discovered some promising artists amongst the HSBC staff!
The schools taking part were Bel Royal year 5; St. Peter year 5 followed by year 6 Mont a L'Abbe School. It was a pleasure to work with the schools, the enthusiasm of the students was infectious.

Elizabeth Le Gal from from Art in the Frame Foundation said:
"These workshops aim to show the children that it is possible to create a work of art from found and recycled materials without costing too much money. Helping young children to be aware of their environment is a really important part of the workshops, which have strong educational as well as a creative aspect to them."
