John Gillow
John Gillow has spent the last 30 years or more studying, collecting and lecturing on textiles.
His latest book, African Textiles, is the first comprehensive survey to illustrate, in over 570 spectacular colour photographs, the traditional, handcrafted, indigenous textiles of the whole African continent. His previous books include Arts and Crafts of India (with Hay Cooper and Barry Dawson), Traditional Indian Textiles (with Nicholas Barnard), Traditional Indonesian Textiles and World Textiles (with Bryan Sentance).
John will be giving two talks whilst in Jersey, "Embroidery from Afghanistan and Embroidery from South East Asia" and is an exhibiting artist at Textile Showcase 2005.
