My passion is for the landscape and the light that sweeps across it, painting it in its colours and defining its tones, shaping its mood and characterizing its seasons. I feel relaxed and alive in the mountains and the wilder places of our planet but always enjoy coming back to my home in the Channel Islands & taking photos of Jersey with its stunning coastline and dramatic beaches and seductive light.
I love Jersey as a source of innumerable landscape opportunities; the devil is certainly in the detail. Rocks studded with quartz veins, cliffs etched and banded with intricate chequered patterns. Dark gabbro boulders stunningly veined with pink granite in a multitude of hues. Wash, gloss and buff it all with the Atlantic Ocean twice a day and you are presented with an opportunity akin to being 7yrs old in a penny sweet shop with a pound of loose change in your pocket.
As well as presenting images in the traditional formats I like to experiment with slightly more graphic presentations of the scene and I encourage my customers to have an input into how they would like to see any given image displayed in their home or place of work.
I am a new boy to this scene, I enjoyed my first exhibition at Art in The Frames Spring Fever exhibition this year and I have exhibited at the Bedford/Jersey arts festival at Bromham Mill Bedford June 09, with a mixed selection of Jersey landscapes and travel photography. I enjoy accessing some of Jersey’s hard to reach bits in my kayak and this enables me to gain some different perspectives on the stunning scenery that surrounds us.
Several portfolios of images are available to view at the Nature In The Frame website.
