| Art in the Frame > Artists > Mark Guest
Jersey born sculptor Mark Guest is a graduate in fine art. He has worked alongside artists in Australia and Kenya as well as in the UK where he now keeps his studio. He has undertaken several public commissions, the most recent being a four ton pig!
Mark now works exclusively in stone of a great variety of types including granites and exotic couloured marbles. The sculptures are always carved in an immediate and intuitive fashion as the particular chosen stone allows for, leaving beautifully considered and balanced forms which, unlike ourselves, sit still and silent.
About work for the Patterns in Nature exhibition
"These sculptures are carved in an intuitive fashion as determined by the stone. They are conceived with a sideways glance towards nature, emulating its forms, processes and moods. Unlike us, they sit still and silent".
