Pauline Verrinder
I have worked in the field of arts and crafts for about twenty five years, and have taught in the arts for twenty of those years. Teaching textile based subjects including City & Guilds Embroidery, workshops, day schools, and summer schools both locally and nationally, and internationally has become both a challenge and a pleasure.
The study of creative embroidery and related arts and crafts has become a passion and has developed into an endless pursuit of knowledge and experience within the field.
In 1996 Brickworks was set up as a Creative Studies Centre in Cambridge where I work as tutor, co-ordinator and Internal Verifier. In February 2002, I organised a very successful three day textiles festival in Cambridge called Textiles in Focus, it has now become a yearly event.
I started an advanced stitched textile workshop group in 1999, the aim being to trigger creative energy in a sharing environment. The workshop has become a catalyst for the development and extension of individual creativity in textile art. Membership of the Fibrefusion group is at a premium.
The electric atmosphere of inspiration and a sharing spirit, of the present group encouraged the writing of our first book Beyond Boundaries which has been successful both nationally and internationally. Book two Encrustation was published in June 2003 and has already been re-printed due to demand.
