APRIL 2009

Last Meeting
Our lunch last month at Devil's Hole was well attended and everyone enjoyed the tabletop horse racing afterwards even if the dice seemed loaded. Everybody had a flutter with no more than £5 being won or lost over the three races.

Collecting Boxes
Wonderful news! Eleven boxes were placed last month so thanks and well done go to Ann Paul and Lor Le Rossignol for placing one each, and brownie points go to Ken Le Quesne for placing the other nine. We are well on target for placing twenty this year to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of our inauguration.
Reclining Chair
We have an electric reclining armchair available for a sufferer to have the use of, free of charge. Please contact Eileen Smith by phone on 737128 for details.
Thank You
Eileen Smith would like to say thank you to those of you who drop off goods for sale, raffle prizes and used stamps at her home. She quite often comes back to an Aladdin's Cave of goodies left on the doorstep but has no idea who has left them.
Taxi Service
We would like to let new members to the branch know about the taxi service we fund for doctors' and hospital appointments.
Sometimes you may not feel like driving, or you may become anxious about finding a parking space in time or close enough to your doctor's surgery. All you have to do is phone Luxicabs on 887000 and ask to book your taxi on the Parkinson's account for your journey there and back home again afterwards, and we will settle the account.
Buddy Club
Eileen Smith was asked recently if our branch has a scheme whereby an individual befriends a sufferer for maybe an hour a week, for a chat, or to read to them etc. etc. Do we have any supporters out there who could maybe spare some time to get this scheme off the ground. For further details please contact Eileen Smith on 737128.

 Sitting Service
Eileen Smith has been approached by a few carers to find out if anyone would be willing to sit with their loved one whilst they run errands occasionally, or just go to the hairdressers or even for a walk but feel they cannot leave their other half alone at home. If anyone is willing to help or if you are a carer who could use a sitter, then please phone Eileen on 737128.
