Thought for the Day from a sufferer and carer
"As well as getting advice from The Parkinson's Disease Society, we are also members of Jersey Branch. We know what support is available, which has made it easier for both of us to cope"
Your annual subscription remains at £5.00 per person and is now due for renewal, as per the attached form.
For Neurocare clients, a membership application form is enclosed, should you feel that the time is right for you to become a member of the branch.
Cheques should be made payable to The Parkinson's Disease Society and forwarded to the Treasurer, Mrs Pam Turner whose address is printed on both forms. The Committee cannot emphasize enough the benefits of being a member of the branch. Not only is friendship and support vital, but funding for specialised equipment can be made available, as well as all the therapy and exercise classes now being run to help maintain a level of mobility.
You could not spend a better £5.00 during 2009. Join up, the benefits will be worthwhile.

Party for Parkinson's
As part of our 20th birthday celebrations why not organise a "Party for Parkinson's" at home, or at work. Friends and colleagues are always willing to be involved.
Why not host a small coffee morning, a beetledrive, a whist drive or a scrabble afternoon. Why not invite 20 friends to each walk a mile, and get them sponsored. You could organise a raffle, try and place 20 cardboard home collection boxes, show a video at home and invite friends for afternoon tea. Any activity can be given a 20th theme. Please, please help raise Jersey Branch's profile this year, whilst the Committee raise awareness of Parkinson's Disease and raise vital funds for research.
After 20 years of evening meetings, we are ringing the changes in 2009, by organising monthly lunches, the first of which will take place on Tuesday, January 27th at The Priory, Devil's Hole, St. Mary at 12.30 p.m. for 1 o'clock. We know that many of you enjoy going out during the day when your medication is working better for you and we hope that a daytime gathering will encourage more of you to come along. We will have a raffle and there will be ample time afterwards to mingle and chat.
Our AGM this year will take place in February, details will appear in next month's newsletter. In the meantime, if there is anyone you would like to nominate as an officer or committee member of the branch, please forward their name, duly proposed and seconded to The Secretary, Mrs Maureen Le Feuvre, 6, Maison D'Azette, St. Clement, Jersey C.I. JE2 6FD.
