JUNE 2004

Eileen Smith organised a horse racing evening last month, always popular with the gamblers amongst you. Geoff Turner and Louise le Vannais are now barred having backed the winner in each race. It was a fun night with no-one winning or losing a fortune.

Used Stamps
Thank you to everyone who has donated stamps over the last month, please keep them coming! Roger has worked hard soaking and sorting and sold £219.00's worth. Please bear in mind that we are able to sell stamp albums and collections, so please do rummage in Great Aunt Dorothy's attic and think of us if you come across any kind of stamps.
Hip Protector Pants
Mary Dupoy, the Health Promotion Officer has sent us two new information leaflets, encouraging the use of hip protector pants more widely among elderly people who are at risk of falls. Over 50% of people who do fall and sustain a hip fracture will never regain their previous independence and many will require some form of residential care, which will, unfortunately, have a major impact on their quality of life. Please phone Eileen on 737128 for details or information.
 Reclining Armchair
The Society has had an electric reclining armchair donated. Could you make use of it?? It would remain our property but you could have the enjoyment of it free of charge for as long as you wished. Please contact Eileen Smith on 737128 for details.

Sufferers and carers will be asked to contribute £2 towards Branch running costs and paying supporters are welcome to join us at a cost of £8.50 or £12.50 depending on whether you have two or three courses. Next meeting
We meet at Communicare on Tuesday June 22nd 2004 at 8 p.m. for a quiz organised by Eileen Smith ably assisted by her scorer Maureen Le Feuvre. We hope that as many of you will come along as possible. Our quizzes are always fun and organised in teams of two or three people with many clues given by the quiz mistress. There will be tea/coffee and biscuits afterwards with plenty time for a chat with fellow sufferers and carers.
