Last Meetings
At our afternoon meeting last month Eileen Smith organised a picture quiz with questions entitled "Down Memory Lane". This was probably one of our most challenging and enjoyable quizzes yet. Eileen had cut out pictures from the previous month's Evening Posts and the teams were asked to name politicians, churches, schools and Island celebrities. There was an anagram round on landmarks and buildings around the Island, as well as cryptic clues to "Name the Parish", and "What Shop was Previously Here". Valma Le Feuvre and Marguerite Davey pipped Marg Le Quesne, Margaret Carr and Alan Luce to the post by half a point, and Ken Le Quesne, Eileen Palmer and a friend came third only six points behind. Tea and biscuits rounded off a very enjoyable couple of hours.
At our evening meeting at Communicare our speaker was Karen Huchet, the Director of Family Nursing who spoke about the history of district nursing since the 1920's to what the organisation is today, a business and charity. She spoke of the services Family Nursing provides from birth to old age. We have managed to negotiate a 10% discount off your membership to Family Nursing if you are a Parkinson sufferer, just let Family Nursing know next time your subscription is due. We had our usual raffle and refreshments were served to round off the evening.

checker's can shake
Our Treasurer, Pam Turner would like to thank everyone who helped with the week long can shake during Awareness Week last month. We covered approximately 60 hours and collected £1,317.17. We are extremely grateful for everyone's help.
London marathon to lourdes
The Tredants are the blue-eyed boys this time round. We thank son Adrian for taking part in the London Marathon, raising funds for Parkinson's, and we wish dad Graham a good time in Lourdes next week. Graham has been chosen as a VIP by the "Across Group" who make yearly pilgrimages to Lourdes taking a disabled party from Jersey.
Re-action
Do you want to exercise in a heated pool under supervision?
The Re-Action Physiotherapy clinic is in Bon Air Lane, and has contacted our society to advertise this new service. Sessions are on Tuesdays 11.15 a.m. - 12 p.m. and 12 p.m. - 12.45 p.m. and Thursdays 10.30 a.m. - 11 a.m. and 11 a.m. - 11.45 a.m. with an early evening sessions on a Wednesday 5.15 p.m. - 6 p.m.
All classes are in groups of four and six sessions cost £50. To book, phone 870849.
Cosmopolitan/Kensington Place
The Eastern Good Companions are holding a fundraiser which we have been asked to advertise.
This is at the above venue and includes raffle, Bingo, buffet and "drag" show.
Tickets cost £20 and can be obtained from Elaine Griffin at The Eastern Good Companions Club.

Holidays 2007/08
The society will again be funding a holiday away next year, probably in May. To be able to take advantage of deals/early booking discounts etc., we need you to be letting us know if you would like to be considered. As with past holidays, people who have not been away with us before will take priority. Phone Eileen on 737128 for details.
In the meantime we can offer three couples a week's break at Maison Des Landes, St. Ouen this year in August/September. If you would like a break, why not let us treat you! Please phone Eileen for information or to put your name down.
Gun carriage pull
The Sea Cadets annual fundraiser this year takes place on Sunday September 9th, 2007 and is in aid of Parkinson's. Please keep this day free!! There are many ways that you will be able to help us on that day.
Social Get-Togethers
Eileen Smith will be organising a lunch at 1 p.m. on Friday 8th June, 2007 at Corbiere Phare, St. Brelade. Sufferers and carers will be asked to contribute £2 each towards Branch running costs. Paying supporters are welcome to join us. Please phone Eileen on 737128 by Thursday 31st May 2007 if you would like to join us. Transport can be arranged. We'd be delighted to welcome some of our newer members.
How do you fancy an evening out to the theatre?
Eileen Smith is organising a visit to the Opera House to see the JADC's production of "Fiddler on the Roof".
This is on Monday 18th June, 2007 at 8 p.m. This is a free outing for sufferers and carers. Paying supporters are welcome to join us. The ticket price is £16.50 less any concession Eileen may be able to get.
Regrettably, due to previous experiences organising tickets, if you are unable to attend for whatever reason, the society will expect you to re-imburse us the price paid for your ticket. Please phone Eileen on 737128 by Thursday May 24th, 2007
Next meetings
We next meet at Communicare, St. Brelade on Tuesday May 22nd, 2007 at 8 p.m. when our speaker will be Mr John Rive who is the Recycling Officer for the States Transport and Technical Services Department. He will be talking to us about household recycling. A raffle and refreshments will follow.
Our next afternoon meeting is in the Resources Room at Overdale on Thursday 14th June, 2007, at 2.30 p.m when Eileen Smith will be organising a quiz on T.V. and entertainment. Tea and biscuits will follow.
